Clinton County Press Conference

Rudy will be holding another press conference tomorrow, June 17th, at 1 pm on the steps of Government Center in Plattsburgh to officially kick off his campaign in Clinton County. The event is open to anyone who wants to attend. This will be a great chance to meet Rudy and have your ideas and opinions heard.

Rudy Johnson Announces his Candidacy for New York State Assembly

(Malone NY) Rudy Johnson is pleased to announce his candidacy for The New York State Assembly in the 114^th Assembly District. The 114^th Assembly District includes the entirety of Clinton and Franklin Counties and the town of St. Armand in Essex County. Johnson, a democrat, has received the endorsement of the Franklin and Clinton County Democratic Committees. The primary elections will be held on September 14, 2010 and the general election will be held November 2, 2010.

Johnson, a consultant and former small businessman, has been a North Country resident since 1989. He began his service to the North Country as an energy analyst out of the Cornell Cooperative Extension office in Malone. Working with the Small Business Energy Efficiency Program, Johnson traveled to farms and businesses throughout the region helping farmers and small business owners save money through energy conservation.

"It was during this period that I learned the significance of dairy farms and how these family farms make up a very important part of our culture," Johnson said. "I also learned how resilient people are in adapting to change and weathering adversity."

He said his main priority is economic growth and job creation in the region as well as bringing innovative ideas and problem solving skills to Albany. "We really need to work on reducing the gridlock in the capital and do what's best for the people."

"After working in the North Country for the last 20 years, I have seen the loss of jobs in agriculture and manufacturing, as well as a lack of basic economic growth." He said he has also witnessed fluctuations in prison and other public sector jobs and feels that we must work to prevent the loss of more of these jobs while preparing for the future.

"The new economy will be made up of high tech industries and green initiatives. The district needs leadership that will move us into the future. We must take action to foster economic growth in the region. This will include increased support in training for the trades and expanding the curriculum of our community colleges to include courses in these growing fields."

"These are just some of the concerns that all of our representatives need to consider. The ability to listen to the concerns of the people of the North County and to respond to them is fundamental to serving in the State Assembly," he said.

Rudy, his wife Kaye, and son, Rudy II, reside in Malone, New York.
